As a result, he created his own entertainment. Eventually, I developed an interest in music.

Cordle began his career by performing in nightclubs. 

Larry’s career debuted in the summer of 1983, after releasing the song “Highway 40 Blues”. 

The song came in the first position in the country.

He relocated to Nashville in 1985 to work as a staff songwriter for Ricky Skaggs’ new music label, Amanda-Lin Music. 

While still active with his band “Lonesome Standard Time,” Cordle worked as a lyricist.

Larry’s band (Lonesome Standard Time) published the song “Murder on Music Row” in 2000. 

It went on to become one of Larry and his band’s best hits. 

Many bluegrass and country charts ranked the tune first.

Larry works with various musicians, including Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton, Billy Yates, and Rebecca Lynn Howard, in addition to songwriting and band activities.

Larry and his band won the IBMA Song of the Year Award for ‘Lonesome Standard Time’ in 1993.

Larry won the IBMA Song of the Year Award for “Murder On Music Row” again in 2000, and he received another nomination for “Black Diamond Strings,” which he co-wrote with Cordle and Shell.

Murder On Music Row earned Cordle and the band a 43rd Annual GRAMMY Award nomination for Best Bluegrass Album.

Larry was on the 2003 GRAMMY-winning album Livin, Lovin, and Losin: A Tribute to the Louvin Brothers.

Cordle won the IBMA Recorded Event of the Year Award in 2012 for his co-produced record, Life Goes On. 

Larry was inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in April 2015, honoring his illustrious musical career.

Larry published the ‘Give Me Jesus’ album in 2016, which garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Roots Gospel Album in 2018 and a 2017 IBMA Gospel Recorded Event of the Year nomination for the title track.
