She went on to star in films like “The Landlord” (1970), “The Swarm” (1978), and “Teachers” (1984).
Grant also appeared in a number of television movies and series, including “Peyton Place” (1965-1966), “Rich Man, Poor Man” (1976), and “The Love Boat” (1983-1984).
Grant directed numerous documentaries in addition to acting, notably “Down and Out in America” (1986), which won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Grant’s career was temporarily interrupted in the 1950s due to her Communist Party membership, which resulted in her being blacklisted in Hollywood.
After abandoning her Communist Party membership and appearing before the House Un-American Activities Committee, she was able to resume her profession in the 1960s.
