He was preparing for the GCE O’L (General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level). While Lekan was enrolled in a speedy result college in the United Kingdom and working to improve his exam results, he was covertly reading his brother’s mail lessons, which he subsequently admitted were quite useful in passing the tests.
Lekan received his certification and moved to the United Kingdom to continue his education in O and A level qualifications. In addition to the certification program, he worked part-time to support himself. He was under the age of 18 at the time.
Lekan graduated with a Master’s degree in Administration and Economics from the institution in 1973. He began working for the Lamberth Local Government Social Services Department for a short time. He worked for the department for at least one and a half years after which his academics improved and he enrolled in a Ph.D. program.
Balogun returned to ABU’s Centre for Social and Economic Research as a research fellow in 1973. He was given the opportunity to serve as a lecturer at the University of Ife, which is now Obafemi Awolowo University, at the time.
