Guzman-Feliz was a Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School student who wanted to be a detective.

He was also a member of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) Explorers program, which is an organization for young people interested in careers in law enforcement.

However, he was murdered by the Dominican-American gang Trinitarios in the Bronx’s Belmont area.

Due to misidentification, the gang murdered Junior in the Bronx with a machete and knife.

On June 20, 2018, at 10:30 p.m., he left his apartment to meet with a buddy.

He grew terrified after leaving his flat and ran for many blocks while being pursued by gang members in the vehicles.

Then he hid in a bodega near his residence on Bathgate Avenue and East 183rd Street in Belmont, the Bronx.

When he and others watched the attack but were unclear of the situation, the store owner barred him from sheltering behind the counter.

After observing his trepidation, the business owner relented and let him work behind the counter.

However, one of the gang members noticed him and carried him outside, where the other three gang members were waiting.

Following that, multiple gang members began stabbing him with huge knives and machetes.

Furthermore, the incident was filmed on CCTV inside the shop, and a homeowner captured the cell phone footage from the building’s higher floors.

In addition, the cell phone video shows other gang members coming and departing from the crime site.

Junior returned to the store after the attack but was escorted out.

After staggering out of the bodega, he began jogging east on 183rd Street toward St Barnabas Hospital, one block away.

He did, however, collapse on a step at a guard booth a few yards from the hospital entrance, according to mobile phone footage.

Furthermore, he died minutes after the bodega attack.

According to his sister’s boyfriend, a Trinitario gang leader claimed on Snapchat that the death was a case of mistaken identity.

Furthermore, the group eventually apologized to his family on social media for the murder and dismissed the killers from the gang.

After the terrible footage of the murder began circulating on the Internet, the public was enraged.

Police arrested fourteen members of the Trinitario gang in connection with Junior’s murder.

After nearly a year, the court convicted five alleged suspects in his death outside a Bronx bodega.

On June 14, 2019, a jury in the Bronx convicted Jonaiki Martinez Estrella, Manuel Rivera, Elvin Garcia, Jose Muniz, and Antonio Rodriguez Hernandez of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, gang assault, and conspiracy.

Throughout his life, he had received no prizes or nominations.
