She worked for WABC TalkRadio from 1987 to 1989 before being hired by SportsChannel America in 1988, where she made her first on-screen appearance. Linda left SportsChannel America to work as a sports anchor at KIRO-TV in Seattle, Washington.

Linda’s popularity grew gradually, and in 1992, her hard work paid off when she accepted an offer from ESPN to anchor its “SportsCenter” show – her first appearance was on July 11, 1992, alongside Chris Myers.

As she grew in popularity, she began to appear in TV commercials as part of the “This is SportsCenter” series.

She was on the verge of being fired just two years into her career with ESPN due to her hesitant appearance in front of the camera; however, the officials gave her a second chance and hired a video coach to assist her.

She made a name for herself in 1997 as a prognosticator for the NCAA basketball tournament, predicting that the 15th-seeded Coppin State would defeat South Carolina in the first round. It is now regarded as one of the most surprising underdog victories in NCAA tournament history.

She was gradually gaining popularity, which led to a contract extension with ESPN in 2005. Her role at the station expanded when she was hired as a play-by-play commentator for WNBA games.

Linda set a record on February 21, 2016, when she hosted her 5,000th episode of “SportsCenter” – she has since begun hosting her own show, “Listen Closely to Linda Cohn.”

However, she made controversial remarks about President Donald Trump, resulting in a one-day suspension imposed by John Skipper in 2017.

Despite this, she has returned to work and signed a new contract with the network.
