Who is Liz Cheney?

Liz Cheney, an American attorney, and politician has served as the US Representative for Wyoming’s late congressional district since 2017. Cheney is the third-highest ranking Republican in the House of Representatives. Elizabeth is the third person to be elected to this role, following Deborah Pryce and Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

Elizabeth was born on July 28, 1966, in Madison, Wisconsin, along with her younger sister Mary. They are both daughters of former Second Lady Lynne Cheney and her father, Dick Cheney.

Liz’s parents were both students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison when she was born. She had gone to Casper for her sixth and seventh grades while her father was campaigning for congress.

Cheney earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado College, where her thesis, “The Evolution of Presidential War Powers,” was well appreciated.

Cheney was a brilliant woman who earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School in 1996 and then moved on to Oriental Institute to study Middle Eastern history.

Cheney’s sister’s relationship faltered after she indicated in her campaign that she opposes same-sex marriage.

Liz’s younger sister was critical of her, claiming that Liz was always fond of her partner Heather and even gave them blessings when they married in 2012.

Because of this, their relationship has never been the same since. Liz married Philip Perry, a partner at the Washington, DC-based legal firm Latham & Watkins. They married in 1993 and are the parents of five children.

Before going to law school, Cheney worked for the State Department for five years, from 1989 to 1993. Cheney began her legal career as an international law attorney consultant at the White & Case law firm after graduating from law school, and she later joined the World Bank group.

Cheney returned to the United States on February 14, 2005, and was immediately assigned to the position of Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Eastern Affairs, as well as a Coordinator for Broader Middle East and North Africa Initiatives.

Cheney has worked to promote and improve educational possibilities in the Middle East and North Africa, particularly in locations where suitable educational facilities are lacking.

Cheney directed the establishment of two semi-independent foundations, the first of which was Fund of the Future, worth $100 million, and the second of which was Foundation of the Future, worth $55 million, as a result of which Liz produced a proposal for a new Iraqi constitution.

Liz took a significant step forward by announcing her intention to run for Senate in 2014. When Cynthia Lumnis announced her retirement, Liz seized the opportunity and stated that she was considering running for her seat.

Liz began campaigning for Wyoming’s seat on February 1, 2016, and won with 60 percent of the vote. Liz won the Republican Primary with 73 percent of the vote in 2020, and then went on to defeat Democrat Lynnette Grey Bull in the general election with 63 percent of the vote.

Bud Goodgall apparently labeled Liz a conspiracy propagandist, which caused a stir. She defended herself by claiming that proponents of conspiracy theories over Barack Obama’s citizenship are wrong.

Liz gave the keynote presentation at Frank Gaffney’s dinner gathering for an SPLC-designated hate group.
