She received both a Carl Sandburg Award and an Edwin Ford Piper Award for a 1991 poetry collection entitled Star Ledger. Lynda Hull was born on December 5, 1954 in New Jersey. She was greatly influenced by the poetic work of Hart Crane. She ran away from home at age sixteen, shortly after receiving a scholarship to Princeton University.
