Martin Réway: Professional Career
Réway began his professional career in 2008-2009 with MHK Dolny Kubin U18 in Slovakia U18 2 and MHC Martin U18 in Slovakia U18. He continued in this manner for the next two seasons.
Réway then joined HC Sparta Praha, where he played for HC Sparta Praha U18 in Czech U18 and HC Sparta Praha U20 in Czech U20 the following season. In 2012, he crossed the Atlantic. Réway played two seasons in the QMJHL with the Gatineau Olympiques.
The Montreal Canadiens drafted him 116th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and HC Slovan Bratislava drafted him 102nd overall in the 2012 KHL Junior Draft.
Réway returned to HC Sparta Prague in 2014 and made his Czech league debut with the club’s men’s squad. He began the 2015-16 season with Sparta before transferring to HC Fribourg-Gottéron in November. Martin appeared in 19 games for the Swiss National League A (NLA), scoring eight goals and assisting on thirteen more.
On May 18, 2016, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League. In the 2016-17 season, he will play for the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League.
