Matthew Rendell’s Heart Attack Was Linked To His Death
Matt Rendell, a great athlete, and well-known AFL recruiter who played for Fitzroy, has died.
He was 64. Matthew Rendell died as a result of a heart attack.
Rendell died on Wednesday at a Clayton hospital after having a heart attack while walking his dog on Sunday.
He had been kept alive since being carried to the hospital by ambulance.
The AFL issued a statement on Leonie Rendell’s behalf on Wednesday afternoon.
“I am releasing this statement regarding Matthew Rendell’s condition with tremendous sadness,” the telegram added.
“Matthew died this afternoon after suffering a heart attack early Sunday.”
He didn’t regain his bearings. His death has caused significant grief in the football community.
Rendell had numerous friends and colleagues from his time as a Fitzroy player, an assistant coach at St. Kilda, and, later, a recruiter at Adelaide and, later, Collingwood.

Friends and coworkers dubbed Rendell “Bundy,” after the American professional wrestler King Kong Bundy.
He will be remembered as a brilliant and significant football player who was a member of Fitzroy’s most recent winning club.
He then made a name for himself as a recruiter for the Crows, notably Collingwood.
As his brother Tim had previously stated, Rendell was discovered by a bystander following his heart attack.
On Tuesday morning, Tim was on his heading to the hospital when he spoke with this man.
“Someone noticed him and called an ambulance, but nobody knows how long he was lying there,” Tim explained.
He claimed that his brother was “pretty fit” and active.
Matthew’s obituary specifics are yet to be published by his family members,
although his funeral will be held in his family and close friends’ presence.

He believed that coaches owed it to fans to foster an exciting and enticing playing style.
