Michael Buffer: Birth, Parents

Michael Buffer is well-known for his work as a ring announcer for wrestling and boxing matches. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on November 2, 1944.

Little is known about his early childhood, except that he was born during World War II while his father was serving in the United States Navy.

His parents decided to end their marriage only eleven months after he was born, and his mother placed him in foster care.

As a result, he grew up in extremely harsh conditions in the Philadelphia suburb of Roslyn. Aside from that, little is known about his life until the age of 20, when he decided to enlist in the United States Army, and he went on to serve in the Vietnam War until he was 23.

He found work as a car salesman after leaving the army, a job he held for several years but never got the hang of.

Michael Buffer: Professional Career

Michael Buffer’s career as a ring announcer began in 1982 when his eldest son suggested it after seeing a fight between two boxers at an Atlantic City casino.

He decided to give it a shot and embellished his resume to appear as if he had prior experience before applying for the position of rank boxing announcer at ESPN. As luck would have it, he was hired, but he struggled to adjust for the first few months.

But, after only a year as a ring announcer, he was already well-known across the country for his style of announcing all ESPN boxing matches promoted by Bob Arum. When he began coining catchphrases like “let’s get ready to rumble,” his popularity skyrocketed.

The phrase became so well-known that he was granted a federal trademark for it in 1992. The following year, his abilities drew the attention of a billionaire, who hired him as the exclusive ring announcer for all bouts in his casino.

From 1988 to 2001, he was the defunct World Championship Wrestling’s official ring lead announcer (WCW).

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2007 and had to take a break from announcing; however, he returned later that year.

He has since announced several boxing matches, including the fight of the century – Mayweather vs. Pacquiao – and the money match – Mayweather vs. McGregor.

He has also called several NBA and college basketball games and appeared as a ring announcer on CREED.

Christine Prado: Single or Married?

Christine Prado is the famous ring announcer’s wife. Michael Buffer met her at a social gathering in 2003, and they began dating soon after.

On September 13, 2007, he got down on his knees and proposed to her while appearing on the live show The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She said yes, as expected.

They married the following year in a private wedding ceremony attended only by family and close friends.

It’s worth noting that this is Buffer’s third marriage; he previously married a woman with whom he had two children. From 1965 to 1972, the union was in effect.

His second marriage, to Elina Ehefrau, began in 1999 and ended in 2003.
