According to advocacy organizations, Go’s death on Saturday, when she was brutally pushed in front of a New York subway vehicle, has left the Asian American community in grief.

Martial, 61, arrived later that day after a mental test in 2019 determined he was unfit to stand trial on a drugs possession charge.

He is presently being held at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.

According to experts, the term “hate crime” should only be used after a suspect has been charged since it has lethal overtones when used in circumstances that do not include racial animus, especially for communities of color.

Go was waiting for a train at the Times Square station when she was assaulted from behind by Simon Martial, a homeless man.

Regardless of whether or not the event is being investigated as a hate crime.

However, Asian American advocacy groups claim the community is grieving, in sorrow, and on high alert due to an increase in hate crimes and assaults.
