Best known as an Emmy Award-winning meteorologist and storm chaser for The Weather Channel. He began his time with the station in 2003 and has covered various major storms, including Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy. Mike Bettes was born on January 19, 1972 in Ohio. As an occasional fill-in meteorologist for NBC’s The Today Show, he has appeared alongside the show’s host Matt Lauer. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in atmospheric sciences from Ohio State University. In 1998, following his graduation, he became the chief meteorologist for the local Asheville, North Carolina ABC affiliate WLOS.
