Heretic’s lone full-length album, Breaking Point, was released in 1988, but Howe left to join Metal Church, and the band disbanded as a result of his departure.

From 1988 through 1996, Howe was the lead singer in Metal Church, replacing David Wayne. The subject matter became more in-depth once Howe joined Metal Church. The band’s lyrics addressed current political and social issues while releasing albums like Blessing in Disguise and The Human Factor.

Howe was a member of Metal Church from 1992 until 1996, and he recorded three albums with the band.
