Author and illustrator of nearly forty children’s books, including the controversial 1936 work, The Story of Ferdinand. He is also known for his Watchbirds cartoon series. Munro Leaf was born on December 4, 1905 in Baltimore, MD. During World War II, he teamed up with Theodore Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss) to create pamphlets depicting cartoon mosquitoes to warn enlisted men about the dangers of malaria.
