However, he was not picked by a professional club in the 2015 MLB Draft. Later, he attended Stanford University and was a member of the Stanford Cardinal baseball team.
In 2016, Hoerner started 53 of Stanford’s 54 games at second base. He also batted.254 with 53 hits, eight doubles, and 24 RBIs. Following the season, he played in the Northwoods League.
