According to a family representative on Tuesday night, Reith “passed peacefully” earlier that afternoon.

“It is with deep sadness that we confirm Reith died peacefully in the afternoon of November 8, 2022, following a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s illness,” Ian Hanke, Reith’s former ministerial adviser, said.

During his 17-year tenure, Mr. Reith worked for John Hewson, Alexander Downer, Andrew Peacock, and John Howard. John Howard, the former Prime Minister, lauded his “close buddy.”
