Who is Olena Zelenska?

Olena Zelenska, full name Olena Volodymyrivna Zelenska (before married, she was Kiyashko), is the current first lady of Ukraine. Despite this, she is both a scriptwriter and an architect. Zelenska was ranked 30th on Food magazine’s list of the top 100 most influential Ukrainians in December 2019.

Olena Zelenska worked and presented the Ukrainian language through audio tours in the world’s most prominent locations, particularly the world’s largest museums. As soon as the program was launched, the Ukrainian language was developed with 11 audio guides by 2020 in museums in Austria, Italy, Azerbaijan, Latvia, Turkey, and Montenegro, as well as the two bus routes in Lithuania.

She offered a Ukrainian-language audio guide to the Mount Vernon and Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco in California in 2021. Later that year, in September 2021, Zelenska attended the fifth Ukrainian Women’s Congress.

Olena Zelenska, Ukraine’s first lady, was born on February 6, 1978, and will be 44 years old in 2022. Olena was born and raised in Kryvyi Rih, where she graduated from the faculty of Civil Engineering at Kryvyi Rih National University with a degree in architecture.

She had the degree but couldn’t do much in the same field because of it. Instead, she used to write texts to Kvartal 95 and later became a writer.

Even after becoming Ukraine’s first lady, Zelenska is making significant contributions to society by promoting education and social reforms, such as the project to provide nutritious meals in Ukrainian schools.

Olena Zelenska, a competent architect and writer, was unknown to her future husband, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They were classmates, but they didn’t know each other.

In one of his interviews, Zelenskyy stated that he knew Olena’s classmates but didn’t know her by name or face at the time. They met long later, when she began studying at Kryvyi Rih National University’s Faculty of Civil Engineering.

They met, progressively established their relationship, became acquainted, dated each other for at least eight years, and later married on September 6, 2003. After a year, in July 2004, Olena gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Oleksandra. Zelenska later gave birth to their second child, a son called Kyrylo, on January 21, 2013.

Olena Zelenska- Professional Career

Olena, an architect, and professional writer were sworn in as Ukraine’s first lady on May 20, 2019. In November 2019, she was featured on the cover of the December issue of Vogue Ukraine. She discussed her first endeavor, nutritional reform in Ukrainian schools, in one of her interviews.

The first lady of Ukraine changed the school nutrition system and began working on the menu with the assistance of chef Ievgen Klopotenko of CultFood. The reform was launched with a complicated program that included aspects such as enhancing food quality, food safety, providing resources to schools, food nutrition, and many more.

The revised school menu now includes at least 160 items ranging from traditional Ukrainian foods to popular delicacies from around the world. Olena announced on June 12, 2020, that she had tested positive for the pandemic COVID-19.

She was taken to the hospital for additional examination after four days when she was described as having “moderate severity” and was not on mechanical ventilation. She was later released from the hospital on July 3, 2020. Olena launched an endeavor to disseminate the Ukrainian language around the world in June 2020.
