Melton’s first film was Feast, which he co-wrote with Marcus Dunstan in 2005. 

The film received positive feedback from critics and even won Project Greenlight Season 3.

Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds was released in 2008, while Feast 3: The Happy Ending was released in 2009.

Melton appeared in the horror film Saw, which went on to become the most popular series of all time. 

This gained him international acclaim. After that, he created Saw 4, Saw 5, and Saw 3D.

His longtime writing partner, Marcus Dunstan, directed the home invasion thriller The Collector (2009). 

The film was followed by a sequel, The Collection, which was released in 2012.

Melton and Dunstan sold a sci-fi pitch named Rise to Warner Bros. in December 2011, then Outliers to Paramount in 2013.

Melton and Dunstan contributed scripting to Christian E. Christiansen’s 2013 religious-themed horror/thriller film The Occult.

They co-wrote a screenplay for the 11th Halloween chapter in 2015, which was initially scheduled for a 2015 release under the direction of Dunstan.

Melton and Dunstan sold a number of concepts to FOX, CBS, and ABC.

The Vineyard, the duo’s first television idea, was sold to FOX in October 2006. 

A raunchy half-hour horror/comedy starring Family Guy.

They sold an hour-long drama titled The Good Neighbor to CBS in 2008.

They also worked with Clive Barker in 2009, selling an hour-long drama titled Clive Barker’s Hotel to ABC.

Melton co-wrote his debut novel with Marcus Dunstan and Stephen Romano on October 5, 2011. 

Mulholland Books in the United Kingdom released the book.
