Famed musician who was a master of his century’s music, but was also skilled on early keyboards and played with many Baroque ensembles. Paul Jacobs was born on June 22, 1930, in New York. He escaped a largely impoverished existence while in Europe, due in no small part to Aaron Copland‘s encouragement and connections. He joined Pierre Boulez‘s Domaine musical concerts while in France during the early 1950s, and as a result, he was instrumental in bringing early 20th-century works to post-war Paris.
