Nigerian actor who is well respected and critically acclaimed for his role in the 1980s NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s best-selling novel Things Fall Apart where he played the lead role of Okonkwo. Pete Edochie was born on March 7, 1947, in Enugu, Nigeria. In 2005, the Actor’s guild placed him along with several other actors including Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Nkem Owoh, and Ramsey Nouah on a one year ban from filming after they discovered they were collecting huge fees due to their celebrity status. He got into radio broadcasting in 1967 at the age of 20 as a junior programs assistant. Soon after, he was elevated to the level of a Director.
