Pete Ricketts was born on August 19, 1964, in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

He is a practicing Roman Catholic. He is the eldest of four children born to Joe and Marlene Ricketts.

Marlene Ricketts was a teacher, and Joe Ricketts was a businessman.

After relocating his family to Omaha, Joe founded First Omaha Securities, one of the first discount stockbrokers in the United States, in 1975.

Following the acquisition of TD Waterhouse in 2006, the company renamed itself Ameritrade, went public in 1997, and changed its name to TD Ameritrade.

Ricketts and his siblings, Tom, Laura, and Todd, all graduated from Omaha’s Westside High School in 1982.

In 2020, Pete Ricketts married Susanne Shore. In 1997, Ricketts married Susanne Shore.

Shore was born in Garden City, Kansas, and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English as well as an MBA from Oklahoma State University.

She had moved to Omaha to attend Creighton University for a one-year nursing program after working for the dean of students at the University of South Dakota.

When she married Ricketts, she was a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Omaha.

Ricketts and Shore have three children named Roscoe, Margot, and Eleanor.

The couple is currently residing in the Government’s residence.
