Rachel was coming to the gym every day and progressively improving her physique – her role model was Lisa Lyon, and the gym’s manager, Javier Gutierrez, was showing her images of female bodybuilders she was going to compete against.

Rachel wanted to compete professionally after being inspired by their appearance and believing that she could be just as excellent as them. Her first competition came in 1980, when she won the first United States Championships and the IFBB Ms. Olympia competition in the same year.

Rachel became highly popular as a result of her triumph, as she appeared on the cover pages of fitness publications more than any other woman for the next four years.

After she signed her contract with Dynamics Health Equipment Manufacturing Corporation, there was nothing stopping Rachel from becoming the best female bodybuilder in the world. She is recognized with boosting female bodybuilding’s appeal by inspiring a large number of women to compete.

Rachel has never finished lower than third place in any of the competitions she has competed in; she finished second at Ms. Olympia in 1981, then won the 1982 to reclaim her title.
