Rana Rahimpour Career
Rana Rahimpour (Persian: born January 9, 1983) is a British-Iranian journalist for the BBC World Service. Rahimpour is the Senior Presenter for BBC Persian TV.
She has anchored and covering many major Iranian and international stories for the network, including Iran’s nuclear program, the Iranian Presidential elections in 2009 and their aftermath for both BBC Persian television and BBC World Service, and the Iranian Presidential election in 2013. Rahimpour, a bilingual reporter, covers Iranian politics on a variety of BBC platforms, including the flagship news program Newsnight.
Rahimpour has appeared on News At Ten since the beginning of 2018. Rahimpour’s Toothpaste piece for BBC Radio 4’s From Our Own Correspondents was one of the show’s highlights from 2018.
She spoke with BBC’s John Simpson on the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
She is an outspoken supporter of the free press and has campaigned against harassment of BBC Persian journalists and their families in Iran.
In 2018, she addressed the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, calling for an end to Iranian authorities’ intimidation of journalists.
