Serial killer who was one half of The Lonely Hearts Killers with his wife, Martha Jule Beck, and who was executed in the electric chair. He and his wife were convicted of three murders before their execution. Raymond Fernandez was born on December 17, 1914 in Hawaii. He was played by Jared Leto in the 2006 film Lonely Hearts based on the killings. He began his criminal career by wooing women and then stealing their possessions. The first victim they were charged with murdering came as a result a jealous rage by Beck, who smashed a woman’s head with a hammer when she found Fernandez in bed together. He strangled the woman afterwards. They would go on to kill a woman and her daughter.
