Regina began her legal career as a law clerk in Judge Barbeau’s office in 1977, and then became a law clerk in the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1980, all while obtaining her law degree.

She began working as an assistant attorney in private practice after graduating and also worked in the attorney general’s office in 1984. In 1985, she joined the private business Bassford, Lockhart, Truesdell & Briggs, where she remained until 1993.

After that, she became a partner at Wilson & Chu, where she remained until 1996. However, in 1997, she left the university to start a private practice. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jesse Ventura in 2002.

She was appointed to the Hennepin County, Minnesota, 4th Judicial District Court. She was first elected to a full term in 2004, and then re-elected in 2010 and 2016.

She is a member of the Asian Women’s United of Minnesota’s board of directors. She’s also on the committee for the Hennepin County Pro Bono Project. Regina is a member of the section council for Civil Litigation.
