Rico is a happily married guy who has been married to his beautiful and loving wife, Nathalie Roman, for many years. His wife supported him both in his triumphs and in his setbacks, such as when he lost his leg in an explosion while on duty in Iraq.

Roman mastered his prosthetic limb within a year and began walking and even working while in the condition. He is now a father, a Paralympian, and a retired army man with many more years ahead of him in life.

Rico Roman- Professional Career

He joined the club and began playing for it, developing his sled hockey build-up career from the 2009 to 2011 seasons. He was raised with two brothers, Benito and Carlos, as the son of Connie Roman. Rico was discharged from the army and had his left leg amputated above the knee.

The purple heart has been bestowed onto him. In 2008, he was introduced to hockey by Operation Comfort, a non-profit group dedicated to supporting injured members of the US military at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Rico Roman joined the big league hockey club in 2009 and has remained with the squad since then, keeping his place and practicing with them. Cycling, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair football were all introduced to him.

Roman was able to achieve and sustain his profession in sports within a year of his amputation, riding for two marathons in which he rode 150 miles in a day to donate money for multiple sclerosis research. Rico, the Purple Heart recipient, debuted with the United States national sled hockey team in 2011 and went on to compete in the inaugural Paralympic Team in 2014.

Rico joined the Dallas Stars in 2012, and with their aid, he was able to perform well and win the USA Hockey Sled Championship Classic Division A. He has been a member of the United States National Sled Hockey Team since 2011 and is a one-time winner of the 2013 USA Hockey Sled Cup.

Rico won a silver medal in the IPC World Sled Hockey Challenge in November 2011 and then a gold medal in the same event in 2012, followed by a silver medal in 2013. In 2012, he received a gold medal for winning the International Paralympic Committee Ice Sledge Hockey World Championship, followed by a silver medal the following year for finishing in the same place or position.
