Brockman was also accused of laundering money through a web of offshore companies in the Caribbean, according to federal prosecutors. He was charged after another billionaire, Robert Smith, turned against him in order to withdraw his pursuance.

U.S. Attorney David Anderson stated at a press conference in San Francisco that Brockman was also charged in a securities fraud scheme.

It all began when he purchased and sold debt securities in his own company. He also broke a promise he made to investors not to buy or sell his own company’s debt.

Robert is facing several charges. He has been charged with 7 counts of tax evasion and 6 counts of failing to file reports disclosing foreign bank accounts in this case.
