Robert F Kennedy was an American politician and lawyer.  Robert F Kennedy served as the 64th Attorney General of the United States as well as a United States Senator from New York.

Robert F Kennedy was born on November 20, 1925, in Brookline, Massachusetts.

His father was a wealthy businessman named Joseph P. Kennedy. 

His father was appointed as the United States ambassador to the United Kingdom.

On June 6, Kennedy’s body was carried to St. Patrick’s Church in New York City after his death. 

The next morning, a queue of mourners stretched for 25 blocks to pay their respects.

By the afternoon, hundreds of thousands more people had said their goodbyes to Kennedy as they saw his casket pass by on its way to Washington, D.C., where he was buried next to his brother, John, at Arlington Cemetery.

Nonetheless, he resigned from that position only six months later.

In terms of his civil rights career, he joined the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations in 1954 as the Democratic minority’s chief lawyer. 

In a speech to South African students, Kennedy discussed various techniques to assist minorities in achieving equal rights.

Kennedy was named chief counsel to the Senate Select Committee on Illegal Practices in the Labor or Management Sector in 1957. 

Kennedy also exposed Teamsters union head Jimmy Hoffa’s corruption.

Kennedy oversaw his brother John’s presidential campaign in 1960.

When JFK was elected, Robert was appointed Attorney General of the United States and became one of Kennedy’s closest cabinet aides.

When Kennedy was slain in 1963, Robert resigned as Attorney General and declared his intention to compete for a Senate seat the following September.

Kennedy was elected senator of New York, and during his tenure, he continued to work for the poor and human rights, as well as oppose racial discrimination and the escalation of US involvement in the Vietnam War. 

He also set his sights on running for President of the United States.
