Saddam Hussein’s letter was posted on the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party website two days before his execution.

His execution took place at Camp Justice,

a joint Iraqi-American military base in Kazimain, a northeastern Baghdad neighborhood.

Saddam was executed alone on January 15, 2007, but his co-defendants

Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti and Awad Hamed al-Bandar were executed together.

According to Talal Misrab, the head guard at Saddam’s grave,

Saddam was stabbed six times after his execution, however, the head of Saddam’s tribe contradicts the account.

“I oversaw the whole process from A-Z,” Iraq security advisor Mowaffak al-Rubaie said,

“and Saddam Hussein’s body was not stabbed or mutilated, and he was not humiliated before execution.”

Saddam Hussein was laid to rest on December 31, 2006, in his birthplace of Al-Awja, Tikrit, Iraq.

His two kids, Uday and Qusay, were also laid to rest at the same spot.
