Sajid Javid is a politician from the United Kingdom. Sajid Javid is a Conservative Party member and has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bromsgrove since 2010.

Sajid Javid was born on December 5, 1969, to a British Pakistani family in Rochdale, Lancashire. He has five brothers and his parents are Pakistani immigrant.

They came to the UK in the 1960s as farmers from Rajana, a village near Toba Tek Singh in Punjab. His father was a bus driver, and his mother did not speak English until he was ten years old.

Javid grew up mostly in Bristol. As a teenager, Javid developed an interest in financial markets and took a loan to invest.

Later, from 1986 to 1988, he attended Filton Technical College, and then the University of Exeter, where he received a BA in economics and politics.

Javid began his career in banking and rose to the position of Managing Director at Deutsche Bank. He eventually entered politics and was elected to the House of Commons in 2010.

He was a Junior Treasury Minister in Prime Minister David Cameron’s Cabinet before being promoted to Culture Secretary. Cameron promoted Javid to Business Secretary in 2015.

He continued to support the failed ‘Britain Stronger in Europe’ campaign. That was the campaign to keep the United Kingdom in the European Union.

Following the UK’s exit from the European Union in 2016, he became Communities Secretary under the next Prime Minister, Theresa May.

After his predecessor resigned due to a scandal, Javid was appointed as Home Secretary. He was the first British Asian and person of color to hold a Great Office of State.

Javid ran for Conservative Party Leader in the 2019 leadership election. He came in fourth place overall. Boris Johnson, the winner of the election, made him Chancellor of the Exchequer in his first Cabinet.

He later resigned as Chancellor after the cabinet reshuffle, refusing Johnson’s and his Chief Adviser, Dominic Cummings, demands that he fire his advisers.

Following Matt Hancock’s resignation in June 2021, he was reappointed to Johnson’s Cabinet as Health Secretary.
