Sherry Stringfield- Professional Career

Sherry Stringfield began her career as Christina Blake Thorpe in the CBS Daytime soap opera “Guiding Light” – she was in the cast from 1989 to 1992, then took the rest of the year off to rest and travel around Europe.

Sherry rose to notoriety after landing the lead role in NBC’s medical drama “ER.” She was a part of the show for the first three seasons, and the public adored her — she was nominated for an Emmy Award in each of those seasons – the show was allegedly popular only because of her.

Sherry, however, became bored of the strict timetables for shooting the series, and despite the fact that she was signed for five seasons, she opted to cancel her contract.

Sherry had to sign a no-work agreement since she didn’t want to work on TV until her initial contract with “ER” expired, which wasn’t a problem for her because she wanted to spend her time traveling rather than working on TV.

The show’s producers were unhappy with her choice to leave and tried unsuccessfully to persuade her otherwise. Because of this decision, everyone in Hollywood was talking about Sherry, and her final episode, which aired in November 1996, was watched by more than 37 million people.

Sherry’s perspective changed once she became a mother and spoke with the “ER” producers, and she rejoined the cast in 2001, when the program was in its eighth season, despite the fact that many people resented her for leaving the series.

Her first episode was seen by almost 26.7 million people, putting the series in first place in the ratings. She stayed on for another four seasons before leaving in August 2005, but returned in 2009 for the 331st episode “And in the End…”, which marked the series finale.
