Solar’s Professional Career

She was supposed to join Mamamoo, a new girl group created by Moonbyul, Hwasa, and Wheein. Prior to their official debut, the band rose to prominence through collaborations with musicians such as Bumkey, K.Will, and the rap duo Geeks.

They made their official debut in mid-2014, with the release of the track “Mr. Ambiguous,” which served as the lead single for their first extended play (EP) titled “Hello,” and featured cameos from several K-pop artists in the music video.

Following that, the new trio made their first appearance on a music show, “M Countdown.”

Later the same year, Mamamoo released “Piano Man,” its second EP, which included the lead single of the same name. They were having a lot of commercial success, so they worked on their third EP, “Pink Funky,” the next year.

They also released their first single, “Um Oh Ah Yeh,” which was a commercial triumph, reaching number three on the Gaon Chart.

Their fame was validated when they were chosen to perform at a South Korean embassy-sponsored event in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The group’s first concert since their debut was staged in 2016 in Seoul’s Olympic Hall, and tickets rapidly sold out. They immediately started working on their first studio album, “Melting,” which debuted at number three on the Gaon list.

They then won their first music competition with “Inkigayo,” which received eight votes. Later that year, they released “Memory,” their second EP, and went on to play their second solo gigs in Seoul and Busan.

They generated a lot of controversy around this time by performing in blackface make-up, which was meant to be a tribute to Bruno Mars but backfired, resulting in a lot of apologies from the label and the members.

Later the same year, Mamamoo released “Purple,” their fifth EP, which included the title track “Yes I Am,” which swiftly soared to the top of the Melon charts and established a record for the most unique listeners in a single day; the tune also won many music shows.

They started releasing singles in 2018 to promote their impending project, “Four Seasons 4 Colors” – it started with their sixth EP, “Yellow Flower,” which includes the charting hit “Starry Night.”

Following their third solo show, they released “Red Moon,” the second of the 4 Seasons project, which contained the lead single “Egotistic” and peaked at number four on the Billboard World Albums chart. They joined with Victor Entertainment in Japan, where they released their first Japanese song, “Decalomanie.”

“Blues,” the third chapter of the 4 Seasons projects, was released, with the title single “Wind Flower.” They completed the 4 Seasons Project in 2019 with the EP “White Wind,” then embarked on their fourth tour before releasing their second studio album “Reality in Black” later that year.

Solar’s Relationship Status

Solar is a single woman who, like many K-pop musicians, does not talk about her romantic relationships.

Because the entertainment industry is quite rigorous about exposing information about any partners, they prefer to keep their private lives secret from the public eye.

If she hadn’t been a K-pop idol, she would have been a flight attendant. She still enjoys touring and tourism and has indicated a desire to serve as a tour guide in Korea for international visitors.

Her best buddy is Irene from Red Velvet. She is commonly referred to as a scaredy-cat because of her dread of ghosts.
