Kasseem Dean, better known by his stage name Swizz Beatz, is a New York City, New York-based American hip hop recording artist and record producer.

He began his musical career as a disc jockey (DJ) and has since expanded his repertoire to include rapper, singer, producer, record executive, creative director, and fashion designer. His net worth is $70 million.

He began producing music when he was 16 years old. The first beat he sold was DMX’s “Ruff Ryders Anthem.” By the age of 19, he had already produced famous tracks for Jay-Z and Noreaga.

He also produced Eve’s first album and many of the music on the Ryde or Die Volume 1 compilation. In 2001, he co-founded the Full Surface record label with Clive Davis.

He signed Cassidy as the label’s first performer. Swizz Beats produced Bone Thugs-n-album Harmony’s Strength & Loyalty after signing them.

He’s also been nominated for Grammys for “Fancy” (with Drake and T.I.) and “Famous” and “Ultralight Beam” as a songwriter. Swizz Beats was named Producer of the Year at the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards.
