He is best known for his larrikin streak and for having had the Footscray Football Club’s home ground the Whitten Oval named after him. Ted Whitten was born on July 27, 1933 in Australia. He is known for having been coached under Charlie Sutton during his time playing with the Footscray club in the VFL. He started his career in 1951 when he made his debut with the Footscray club. Later on in 1956 he went on to play for the Victoria club within the Interstate Football League. Then in 1957 he started his coaching career as part of the Footscray club.
