Theo Kerg was born on June 2, 1909 in Luxembourg. He provided illustrations for a book written by the French poet Paul Eluard. He moved to Paris at age twenty to study art at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, the Sorbonne, and the Institut d’art et d’archéologie. He was a student of Paul Klee and Oskar Mool at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany.
