Tito Nieves was born on June 4, 1958, in Puerto Rico. He was nicknamed “El Pavarotti de la Salsa” (the Luciano Pavarotti of salsa music). In the early years of his music career, he belonged to a New York salsa band called Orquesta Cimarron. He later performed with Héctor Lavoe’s salsa orchestra.
