including slapping her for being demanding and begging for chocolate.

Kelly, according to prosecution testimony, would turn up the radio loudly to drown out Cleo’s pleadings for her mother.

Terence, on the other hand, insisted that he had no intention of causing her serious injury.

Terence Kelly, 37, was sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison for his role in the abduction of Cleo Smith from a rural campsite.

Kelly pled guilty to stealing Cleo Smith from her family’s tent in October 2021.

Terence was later arrested and confesses to the act of child kidnapping, gaining international notoriety.

When giving the sentence, Chief Judge Julie Wager of the Perth District Court called the offence as “extremely serious.”

Kelly must spend more than 11 years of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
