Dahl acknowledged openly hating Jews in an interview with The Independent just a few months before his death in 1990.

Roald Dahl Book Censored

Rewriting Roald Dahl’s children’s books to remove harsh language has been dubbed ludicrous censorship.

Puffin Books and the Roald Dahl Story Company, according to novelist Sir Salman Rushdie, should be ashamed.

According to the publishers, they evaluated Dahl’s masterpieces to ensure that all children might enjoy them.

Gender, race, violence, and other inappropriate references were modified or removed from the text.

Dahl’s children’s books are not particularly anti-Semitic.

It is widely understood, however, that some of his most well-known stories contained racist and misogynistic language that was suppressed by his publishers, particularly longtime editor Stephen Roxburgh.

Sir Salman, the winner of the Booker Prize, said that censorship of Roald was ludicrous, but that he was not an angel.

According to reports, the word “fat” was eliminated from each book, and Augustus Gloop in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was referred to as “enormous.”
