Zack Shahin, an American citizen, has spent the last 15 years in prison in Dubai for fraud, embezzlement, and other financial offenses. His family has accused the US government of prioritizing the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner over assisting with Shahin’s case.

According to Fox News, Shanin is housed in a cell with 60 other inmates, sleeping on a poor mattress covered by a filthy blanket and wearing soiled clothes.

Zack Shahin was detained for what reason? Charges are being investigated.

Zack Shahin, 58, received a 53-year prison sentence for fraud, embezzlement, and other financial crimes.

Shahin’s condition has deteriorated as he battles a lung infection, rotting tissue, and skin blisters, and his family feels his situation is worse than they realize.

In November, his family requested assistance from the State Department in relocating him to the United States.

They spoke with the authorities before the US sent letters to the UAE last month.

Meanwhile, the US was negotiating Griner’s release, which the UAE helped arrange after she was detained and imprisoned last year for smuggling cannabis oil into Russia.

The Shahins, on the other hand, had no idea that the US was negotiating the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner from a Russian prison on December 8, 2022, after the US secured a deal with international arms dealer Viktor Bout, which the UAE assisted.
