Ryan Tubridy, a well-known Irish television broadcaster, is leaving and will step down as host of The Late Show at the end of the current season. The announcement was made by RTE’s Director-General.
Tubridy, who is also known for hosting the RTE 2fm breakfast radio show The Full Irish, said it was an honor.
Ryan has been in this position since 2009. That year, he took over for Pat Kenny.
Why Is Ryan Tubridy Leaving Late Night?
RTE Director-General Dee Forbes issued a statement announcing Ryan Tubridy’s impending resignation.
Forbes stated, “I want to thank Ryan for all he has done for the Late Show over the past seven years.”
Ryan Tubridy will leave his job as host of The Late Show in May of this year.
Concerning the reason, there has been no news about it.
It must, however, be a wise move for the television personality’s future career.
While expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work with Tubridy, the director-general noted,
“The Late Show continues to have a unique place in Irish society and is a domestic and global television show.”
Ryan Tubridy deserves a lot of credit for it.”
Jim Jenning, RTE’s head of content,
hailed the Dublin native, saying he has been a terrific steward of the show for the previous fourteen years.
“I’m confident that our viewers will join me in thanking him for his years of
hard work and dedication to producing truly outstanding Friday night shows,” Jim Jenning said.
“Having worked with Ryan for many years, I am aware of his fondness for The Late Show.”
“I’m excited to keep working with Ryan on his radio show and talking with him about future projects,” the content director stated.
Ryan Tubridy: What a Privilege!
“It has been a privilege to host the national institution that is the Late Show for the past fourteen years,”
the legendary television host began his article.
The 50-year-old would like to thank the excellent teams of producers, researchers, crew,
and executives who have worked relentlessly to keep the show running throughout the years.
Ryan Tubridy’s breakfast radio show will continue on RTE.
Tubridy claims that several of them have become close friends with him.
Ryan will also host his farewell Late Late Show on RTÉ One on Friday, May 26, 2023.
The decision on who will replace Ryan Tubridy as presenter of the Late Show has yet to be made.
RTE will make the announcement later this summer.

Ryan Tubridy’s departure from the Late Show and where he is headed are unknown.
However, the popular TV show will continue to host the radio show on RTE Radio 1 on weekday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Tubridy concluded his statement about his leaving by saying, “I will continue doing the radio show I love.”
The Dublin native stated that he would discuss future projects that would combine his interests in reading, history, and Ireland.
“We have some exciting plans for the remaining shows this season.” “Watch this space!” he added.
