He won the Cypriot Cup and the Cypriot First Division with Anorthosis in 2006–07.

At the end of the 2007–2008 season, he relocated to Ukraine and joined Metalurh Donetsk. Before returning to Metalurh, Boa spent 2009 in Russia’s Kuban, making 25 appearances. Boaventura returned to Cyprus on June 17, 2010, and signed a two-year contract with APOEL.

In 2010–11, William won his second title with APOEL, guiding the team to the Cypriot First Division. He played in seven official 2011–12 UEFA Champions League matches for APOEL, helping the club reach the quarter-finals of the competition.
