Yimi Garcia- Professional Career
He began his career in 2009 as an Amateur Free agent with the Dominican Summer League Dodgers. After playing for them, he went on to play for the Arizona League Dodgers in 2010 and the Ogden Raptors in 2011, but he eventually ended up with Dominican. He appeared in games against the Great Lakes Loons, Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres, and others.
In addition, he has been promoted to the Rancho Cucamonga, Chattanooga Lookouts, and Albuquerque Isotopes. He played 59 games in 2015 before being sidelined for the next two years due to an injury.
In 2018, he returned to the mound and pitched in 25 games with a 5.64 ERA. The following season, he appeared in 64 games for the Dodgers, recording a 3.61 ERA with 66 strikeouts. He was non-tendered on December 2, 2019 and became a free agent.
He signed a one-year contract with the Miami Marlins on December 20, 2019. In 2020, he pitched 15.0 innings in 14 games, striking out 19, for an ERA of 0.60. In 39 games, he had a 3.47 ERA and struck out 35 batters. Later, on July 28, 2021, he was traded to the Houston Astros. In exchange for Bryan De La Cruz, a minor league outfielder, and Austin Pruitt, a pitcher, he made a trade.
