Scholastic hired ghostwriters to continue The Baby-Sitters Club series after Ann wrote the first 35 novels. She currently focuses on single novels, many of which are set in the 1960s.

A Corner of the Universe, one of those novels, received a Newbery Honor in 2003. In 2010, she released The Summer Before, a prequel to The Baby-Sitters Club series.

In 1990, Ann and her colleagues established “The Lisa Libraries” to honor and memorialize their friend Lisa Novak. The non-profit organization provides new books to children and builds libraries in underserved communities.

Ann also established the Ann M. Martin Foundation the same year, which provides financial support for art, education, and literacy programs, as well as programs for abused and stray animals.

She worked as a producer on the Netflix adaptation of The Babysitters Club, which will premiere in 2020.

Between 1986 and 2000, she wrote The Baby-Sitters Club (also known as BSC), a series of novels published by Scholastic that sold 176 million copies.
