Following the mass shooting on the campus of Michigan State University (MSU), new information about Anthony McRae’s parents has emerged in the media. Authorities have identified Anthony Dwayne McRae as the shooter in the tragic mass shooting at Michigan State University.
Five students were injured and three were killed.
As officials approached the shooter, Anthony fatally shot himself in the head.
At a rally against gun violence held at the Michigan State Capitol, lawmakers pledged to tighten gun laws.
McRae has no known ties to the college.
After being born in Bear, Delaware, and growing up in Trenton, New Jersey, the gunman moved to Michigan in 2003.
Case of Anthony McRae
Anthony McRae was accused of carrying a hidden weapon before the mass shooting at Michigan State University, a felony charge that, if proven true, would have banned him from acquiring a handgun.
The shooter was apprehended in 2019 and charged with illegally carrying a concealed firearm and violating the law.
Following that, the shooter admitted to having a loaded gun in his possession and was sentenced to 18 months probation.
According to court filings, at 2 a.m. on June 7, 2019, a Lansing Police Department officer noticed McRae smoking a cigarette while sitting on the rear stairs of an abandoned building.
When the cops asked if McRae had any firearms, he responded he did because he was being searched for burglars in the neighborhood.
The officer located a loaded semi-automatic pistol in McRae’s pants pocket and a spare magazine in McRae’s breast pocket after patting him down.
McRae informed the officer that he carried a gun for protection and was in the process of obtaining a permit.
According to court documents, the officer testified that McRae was the registered owner of the gun.

Parents of Anthony McRae
On June 10, 1979, Anthony McRae was born to his father, Michael McRae, and his mother, Linda McRae.
When approached by authorities on February 13, 2023, the shooter committed suicide.
After police reported his son shot students, killing three of them, on the campus of Michigan State University, Michael is struggling to grasp his son’s actions days after a tragic mass shooting.
According to his father, Michael McRae, McRae got bitter and began acting strangely after his mother died.
Anthony’s parents said that he tried to urge his son to find a job, spend time with him, and go out of the room.
Anthony’s father reported that he would ask his son if he needed help, but the boy would say no.
After the 2019 event, which is detailed later in the article, Anthony’s parents were unaware that Anthony had any guns in the house.
Mr. McRae stated that his son Antony had worked at different jobs for seven years, including a warehouse job, and that his son was very close to his mother, who died in 2020 from a stroke.
Before Linda died, McRae’s parents had been married for nearly 45 years.
Michael has worked for General Motors for thirty years, according to the Independent.
Melinda McRae, the gunman’s sister, told CNN that she was astonished by the news and that she had no idea what had prompted her brother to carry out the killing.
