Ayelet Zurer, a Tel Aviv native, was born on June 28, 1969, to a secular Jewish family of Ashkenazi descent. Her mother was born in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Israel when she was sixteen. Her mother was saved from the Holocaust by hiding in a convent in Slovakia.
Her father was born in Israel and was of Russian-Jewish ancestry. Her parents were referred to as “working-class people” by her. Zurer served in the Israeli Defense Forces as a member of the Northern Command’s military band.
Zurer landed the lead role in Florentine, one of Israel’s most popular television shows. She returned to Israel and began a career as an actress on stage, in films, and on television, eventually becoming one of Israel’s most well-known actors.
When she was cast in Steven Spielberg’s Munich in 2004, she and her family relocated to California, where she now resides.

After finishing her education in the United States, Zurer returned to Israel in 1991. In 1993, she starred as Debbie in the Israeli comedy film Nikmato Shel Itzik Finkelstein, and in 1992, she starred in the television series Inyan Shel Zman.
Itzik Finkelstein’s Revenge During this time, she also appeared on the cable television show Yetziat Hirum in addition to movies. In 1997, Zurer played Shira Steinberg in the Israeli Channel 2 television drama Florentin. Zinzana debuted in 2000, Shalva debuted in 2002, and Ha’Block debuted in 2003.
On Israeli television in 2005, she starred in Betipul, a drama about a psychotherapist and his patients’ therapy process. She plays Na’ama Lerner, a patient who falls in love with the doctor.

The following year, Zurer starred in Gomrot Holchot, an Israeli sketch comedy television show about young women’s lives, including relationships, marriage, sex, and work. The show is based on the British sketch comedy show Smack the Pony.
