Humphries, 89, died on Saturday, surrounded by family, at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, of complications from hip surgery.

In a statement, the family stated, “He was completely himself until the very end, never losing his brilliant mind, unique wit, and generosity of spirit.”
