Bill McKibben – Professional Career

McKibben went on to work as a journalist for The New Yorker after graduating. 

He kept his employment for five years. He thereafter worked as a freelance writer.

His writing content as a freelancer was largely about global climate change. 

Is the World Getting Hotter? was the title of an article he wrote for The New York Review of Books in 1988.

As time passed, he began to appear on a regular basis as a contributor for publications such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, Harper’s, Orion, and Mother Jones.

The End of Nature, his debut book, was released in 1989. 

He has released more than two dozen books since the book.

Deep Economy: the Wealth of Communities and the Long-Term Future, his book, became a national best-seller in 2007.

In addition to being a novelist, he is a well-known environmentalist. 

He launched a nationwide environmental campaign in 2007. 

The campaign raised awareness of global warming.

In 2008, he founded the new group 350. org. 

The multinational group addresses climate change and the depletion of fossil fuels. 

During the campaigns, he stated that he believes the usage of nuclear power plants should be expanded.

He was one of the environmentalists who spoke out against the Keystone Pipeline System in 2010.

On May 21, 2014, he authored an essay for Rolling Stone magazine. 

It was later published in print as A Call to Arms. 

He welcomed readers to the People’s Climate March, which took place from September 20th through September 21st.

He has also appeared in documentaries that highlight the present environmental issue.
