Chrissy Houlahan is an American politician, engineer, and former United States Air Force officer. She is currently working and a member of the Democratic Party.

Chrissy Houlahan’s Childhood & Education

Chrissy was born on June 5, 1967, and spent the majority of her childhood on various US naval bases, including Oahu.

Her father’s name was Andrew C.A. Jampoler, and he was a naval aviator born in Poland to a Jewish family. Later, at the age of four, he fled the country to avoid the Holocaust, and he went on to become a professional author.

Chrissy graduated from Stanford University with a degree in engineering and an AFROTC scholarship in 1989.

She later earned a master’s degree in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1994. Following her graduation from Stanford University.

Chrissy Houlahan’s Early Career Pathway

Chrissy Houlahan served in the United States Air Force for nearly three years and was assigned to Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedform.

She was assigned as a project manager in the United States Air Force, where she was expected to work on air and space defense technologies.

She later left active duty in 1991 and retired from the service as a captain in 2004. She was appointed Chief Operating Officer after leaving her active duty for AND1, a start-up sportswear company.

Being a part of the company and receiving all of the benefits, the company required her to perform 40 hours of community service at a location of her choosing.

She devoted her time to working with girls and women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). She later became the Chief Operating Officer at B-Lab, a non-profit start-up, while AND1 was sold.

Chrissy Houlahan’s Career in Politics

Houlahan once stated that her organization’s bus trip to the Women’s March in Washington, DC on January 21, 2017 was what inspired her to run for office. She was questioned about her decision to pursue a political career and why she wanted to do so when she could be a lower-ranking officer.

She stated that she did not have time for that, and that the stakes were too high for her to believe that she was not qualified for the position. She received unopposed Democratic nominations and ran in the general election against first-time candidate Greg McCauley.

On November 6, 2018, she defeated the candidate and received nearly 58.8 percent of the votes cast, compared to 41.1 percent for McCauley.

She became one of seven women to lead the United States House of Representatives in 2018, and one of four Democratic women to win by that margin. She became one of the first Democrats to represent the Chester County-based district in the last 166 years when she took office in January 2019.

Historically, the county was represented by Republicans, but in recent years, the trend has shifted to Democrats. Houlahan, on the other hand, had previously expressed interest in running for the United States Senate in 2022, but later announced that she would rather run for re-election to the House.

Houlahan is currently living with his husband and family. His name is Bart, and he and she met at Stanford and married in 1991.

The couple has two daughters, both of whom are presumed to be adults at the moment. Houlahan is the mother of two daughters, Molly (28) and Carly (22). They are all housemates in Devon, Pennsylvania.
