Ace Steel, Danny Dominion, and Kevin Quinn worked with Phil Brooks to train him (CM Punk). Prior to joining Steel and Punk as the Second City Saints, Colt debuted in Ring of Honor as Colt, a rival to CM Punk.
Colt and Punk went on to win two ROH Tag Team Championships. Colt feuded with Austin Aries and Nigel McGuinness after Punk became a singles star.
He defeated Punk in a two-out-of-three fall match in their hometown of Chicago on August 13, 2005, in what was supposed to be Punk’s final ROH match before joining World Wrestling Entertainment.
