Aiello began performing in films in the early 1970s.
He appeared in “The Godfather Part II” (1974). As the main role in the 1980 film “Defiance,” he co-starred.
The next year, he starred in the film “Fort Apache, The Bronx” as a racist New York City police officer.
The actor was then cast in the film “Once Upon a Time in America” as the police chief.
Between 1985 and 1987, he worked on numerous important film productions, including “The Purple Rose of Cairo,” “Radio Days,” and “Moonstruck.”
Following that, he performed an important role in the film “Do the Right Thing.”
In 1990, he starred in the horror thriller “Jacob’s Ladder” as a sympathetic character.
